SUPA Privacy policy

Sydney University Pharmacy Association (SUPA) respects your privacy and abides by the National Privacy Principles as outlined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) . The ten Principles, and an explanation of our policy, are as follows:

1. Collection

  1. We will only collect personal information from you that is necessary for the functions and activities of SUPA.
  2. We will only collect such information by fair and lawful means.
  3. We will tell you what we intend to do with the information that we collect.
  4. Where practicable, we will only collect personal information from you directly.

2. Use and disclosure

  1. We will not use or disclose the personal information that we collect from you for any purpose other than those required for the functions and activities of SUPA, as would be expected by a reasonable person.
  2. SUPA is part of the National Australian Pharmacy Students' Association (NAPSA), and part of the University of Sydney Union (USU) Clubs & Societies Programme. From time to time, we are obligated to share membership information with NAPSA/USU in order to fulfil the functions and activities of NAPSA/USU. NAPSA and USU also abide by the National Privacy Principles.

3. Data quality

  1. We will endeavour to keep personal information that we hold accurate, complete, and up-to-date.

4. Data security

  1. We will take reasonable measures to ensure that the personal information that we hold is secure.
  2. Generally only the Secretary of SUPA has access to membership records. Members of the SUPA Committee may be granted access where necessary to perform the functions and activities of SUPA.

5. Openness

  1. We will be open with you about what kinds of personal information we hold and what we do with it.

6. Access and correction

  1. Where practicable, on request, we will provide you with access to the personal information that we hold about you. If you discover that this information is inaccurate, we will take reasonable steps to rectify the erroneous information.

7. Identifiers

  1. We will not identify you by any identifiers that may have been assigned to you by the State or Commonwealth Governments, their respective agencies, or any other organisation.

8. Anonymity

  1. Where practicable and lawful, and you so request, we will deal with you anonymously. Understand that this may limit our ability to deal with you.

9. Transborder data flows

  1. SUPA, through NAPSA, is a part of the International Pharmaceutical Students' Federation (IPSF), based in The Hague, Netherlands.
  2. We will not transfer the personal information that we hold to any foreign organisation, including IPSF, unless absolutely necessary and we are confident that the organisation also complies with the National Privacy Principles.

10. Sensitive information

  1. We will limit the collection of any sensitive personal information, as defined in the Privacy Act, to your membership status in various pharmacy associations.
