A population pharmacokinetic study of celecoxib and rofecoxib.
This study will enrol subjects receiving celecoxib or rofecoxib. The 200 participants in this study will have at least 3 blood samples collected to measure the levels of celecoxib or rofecoxib in their blood. These drug levels will be matched to demographic and clinical information about the subjects to try and explain why there is significant variation between individuals in drug levels. this may help explain why some people benefit and others experience side effects when taking these medications. A subset over 75 years of age taking rofecoxib will have more intensive testing to measure blood pressure and sodium retention.
