Dissecting the functional interaction between intestinal P-gp and CYP3A4 alliance

The concept of coordinated functional interaction between CYP3A4 and P-gp has been the subject of research interest due to their coexistence in the intestinal enterocyte. It has been shown that the existence of functional interaction between intestinal CYP3A4 and P-gp is responsible in limiting bioavailability of orally administered drugs. Therefore, my project examines the coordinated functional interaction between CYP3A4 and P-gp in the intestinal enterocyte in relation to their expression and subcellular localization following drug exposure.
