The Measurement of Perceived Service Quality in Public Healthcare.
Quality in public healthcare has focused mainly on the provider components, with little work investigating and measuring the consumer side of quality. The research focuses on patients’ perceived service quality which is directly linked to compliance with medical advice and treatment regimes. Improvements in service quality reduce the total cost of care and also result in improved health outcomes. A methodology will be developed and used to assess the perceived service quality of participants of the Transition Care Program for aged patients. Understanding how consumers assess their healthcare is vital to health service providers because these evaluations assist with service design and have important economic and social outcomes.
