Applications of Molecular Modelling and Computer-Aided Drug Discovery in Medicinal Chemistry

My research projects centers on the efforts of molecular graphics and computational modelling techniques to guide and facilitate various drug discovery and lead optimization projects. Applications used include structure-based drug design: high-throughput virtual screening, de novo design, induced-fit docking, homology modelling, MD simulations and QM/MM studies; and ligand-based drug design: pharmacophore modelling, QSAR and ADME-tox predictions. Successful projects include discoveries/studies of (i) hKAT-I inhibitors, (ii) PPAR-gamma agonists, (iii) MDR-1 selective cytotoxins and (iv) GABAc antagonists.
