Sponsorship

The Herbal Medicines Research and Education Centre at the University of Sydney is the first Centre in Australia to specialise in high quality scientific research and education in herbal medicines. HMREC has established the unique Master of Herbal Medicines, and contributed to the understanding of the pharmacology of anti-diabetic herbs. Recently a cancer immunology research group lead by Dr Daniel Sze, NSW Cancer Institute Fellow has been established to study the anticancer and immunostimulatory herbs.

Privately sourced funds are vital to us in consolidating our position as a leading university, both in Australia and on the international stage. Indeed, to maintain our proud record of achievement in research and education we must seek the support of our alumni and friends to help provide the resources necessary to offer broad-based educational opportunities for our students. HMREC is proud to announce the establishment of Blackmores Prize for Excellence in Herbal Medicines Program to be awarded to a top graduate each year.

HMREC needs your support to carry out research projects, which will contribute to ensuring the safety, quality, and efficacy of herbal and complementary medicines.

Opportunities for Sponsors

Support by sponsors of the Herbal Medicines Research and Education Centre is actively encouraged. Sponsors are invited to participate in Centre activities. The Centre needs your support to maintain its infrastructure and to carry out programs for advancing the herbal medicines industry in Australia, including research projects on the safety, quality, and efficacy of herbal and complementary medicines.

HMREC projects requiring support are:

  1. Master of Herbal Medicines Scholarships
  2. PhD Research Scholarship
  3. Herbal identification and testing centre
  4. Upgrading herbal research laboratory
  5. Herb-drug interaction database
  6. Lectureship for Master of Herbal Medicines
  7. Establishment of a herbal clinic for students

Projects may be named after the sponsor under certain circumstances.

  • Sponsor: $50,000
  • Benefactor: 20,000
  • Governor: $10,000
  • Supporter: $3,000
  • Fellow: $1,000
  • Member: $200
