Admission requirements for research degrees
- For PhD, a master's degree, or bachelor's degree with first or second class honours is required.
- For the Master of Philosophy, a bachelor's degree with first or second class honours or bachelor’s degree without first or second class honours, on the provision that a qualifying exam is passed.
- International applicants must also satisfy the English proficiency requirements:
IELTS 6.5 with no band less than 6.0 OR
TOEFL 577 plus TWE 4.5 OR
Computer-based TOEFL 233 plus Essay Rating 4.5 - All applicants for research degrees must contact the Faculty before making a formal application to establish that their research proposal is likely to be acceptable and that there are adequate resources and facilities for the research, as well as appropriate supervision. Formal applications must be accompanied by a two-page research proposal.
Areas of research in the Faculty of Pharmacy
Research in the Faculty covers a broad spectrum of pharmaceutical and clinical sciences ranging from the design, synthesis, testing and mechanism of action of drugs, through studies on methods of drug delivery and on the fate of drugs in humans and animals, to research on the clinical and sociological aspects of pharmacy. Some current research topics relate to: calcium regulation and cell signalling, cancer and anti-cancer agents, photobiology of drugs and pollutants, radiopharmaceutical agents, formulation and delivery of proteins and drugs, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, pharmaceutical powders, asthma, quality use of medicines, and various issues relating to community pharmacy practice. Cost
Local students will receive HECS exemption scholarships for the PhD and Masters programs. International students pay $23,040 per annum.
