Mrs Margaret Bickle PhC, FAIPM, MPS, AO

As a leader in supporting women pharmacists, Margaret Bickle was the first woman elected to the NSW Pharmacy Guild Committee. In the 1970s she became the representative of the Pharmacy Guild to the Pharmacy Practice Foundation and in 1984 was elected to the Council of the Foundation. She has remained an elected member of the Foundation Council since that time

She has worked on committees for the Pharmaceutical Society of New South Wales to establish guidelines for the training of Dispensary Assistants. She became the Guild and Australian Representative on the Standards Association of Australia. In 1976 she became an inaugural Member of the Joint Pharmaceutical Services Group of the Guild and the Society. Margaret was the first woman and the first Australian to be elected to the Executive Committee of the Community Practice Section of the Fédération lnternationale Pharmaceutique. This was followed in 1991 when she was the first woman, and again the first Australian, elected to become President of the Community Practice Section of the Fédération lnternationale.

She received honorary Life Membership of the Guild in 1993, the André Bedat Medal for her contribution to international pharmacy in 1996 and was admitted to the degree of Master in Pharmacy (Honoris Causa) at the University of Sydney in 1998.

Mr Trevor Clarkin

Trevor Clarkin is the General Manager of Gold Cross Products and Services Pty Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia. He is also National President of the Australian College of Pharmacy Practice and Management. Trevor has previously held general management roles with major international pharmaceutical companies as well as a general manager position with a pharmaceutical wholesaler. He has service on the Council of the Pharmacy Practice Foundation since 2004.

Mr Barry Marks

Barry Marks has wide experience in retail, manufacturing and wholesale distribution businesses. His retail experience was gained as a pharmacist with two pharmacies located in the Sydney CBD. In 1980 he shifted his professional focus to concentrate on manufacturing and wholesale distribution. Barry has been on GHA's Committee since 2002. In addition to serving as a Councillor in the Pharmacy Practice Foundation, he is a member of the University of Sydney’s Alumni Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of Gifts and Homewares Australia.

Co-opted members of the Council:

Professor Jo-anne Brien BPharm (Syd) BS(Pharm) PharmD (MCP)

Professor Jo-anne Brien holds the Pfizer Australia Chair in Clinical Pharmacy (St Vincent's Hospital) at the University of Sydney. A graduate of the University of Sydney and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, she has extensive clinical practice experience in clinical pharmacy in is registered to practise in Australia, the UK and USA.

Professor Brien is a member of the Council of the PPF and is the Chair of the Human Research Ethics Committee at St Vincent's Hospital. This is an accredited lead committee in NSW for clinical trials and general research, and she is a member of the South East Sydney Illawarra Health Service Research Advisory Committee. Professor Brien is the Deputy Chair of the Drug and Therapeutics Committee at St Vincent's Hospital. She chairs the NSW committee for Society for Hospital Pharmacists of Australia and is a member of the Medication Safety Steering Committee for NSWHealth.

Mr Warwick Wilkinson AO RFD ED Hon, MPharm, FPS OLJ FAIM FAIPM

Warwick Wilkinson qualified in Pharmacy at the University of Sydney in 1952. He has worked in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry as a community pharmacist in suburban Sydney, and for almost 20 years in the corporate sector as a senior manager and Director with the leading pharmaceutical manufacturer Merck, Sharp and Dohme. In recent years he has worked as an industry consultant.

Warwick has also had an active parallel career as an officer in the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps, culminating in his final posting as Colonel-Consultant (Pharmaceutical) on the Surgeon-General's staff.

In addition to his professional roles, he has also undertaken a wide range of voluntary professional and community service appointments and offices, including the presidencies of the NSW and Australian Councils of Professions, and as President of the Professional Standards Councils of NSW, WA and Victoria. Mr Wilkinson is currently the Commonwealth delegate of the National Professional Standards Council.

He is also an independent advisor to the Professional Programs Services Evaluation Steering Committee of the Commonwealth Department of Health, providing specific advice on pharmacy practice research projects.

Other past offices he has held include senior roles with the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia, and membership of the former Economic Planning and Advisory Council. Additionally, Mr Wilkinson was Associate Commissioner for the ACCC, and now works as a Consultant to the ACCC.

His various roles have provided an opportunity to be involved in decision and policy making areas of government.
